Product Description
This Starrett Duratec FB carbon steel band saw blade has a regular tooth, straight rake angle, flexible back, and a raker tooth set for creating curved cuts on easy-to-machine low-alloy steels, nickel-based alloys and other nonferrous alloys, wood, and plastic. The regular tooth has a straight (zero) rake angle for general-purpose cutting. The blade can make cuts in solid, structural, and tubular shapes, as well as solid and tubular bundles. It is made of a single piece of carbon steel and has heat-treated teeth that can make cuts in materials up to 50 HRC (Rockwell hardness). The back of the blade, which is left flexible, can resist breakage when making curved cuts. The blade has a raker tooth set, which alternates between left-leaning, right-leaning, and unset teeth, for increased chip evacuation that reduces clogging. This band saw blade works for general-purpose and light-duty cutting.
Band saw blades are long, continuous bands of metal that loop around the wheels of band saws and can make straight or curved cuts in metal, wood, stone, plastic, and other materials. When purchasing band saw blades, consider the application, as this will affect the tooth rake, tooth set, pitch, and size of the blade. Band saw blades are available with a positive rake angle or a straight (also called zero) rake angle, and with a raker, wavy, or alternate tooth set. Pitch (the number of teeth per inch or per 25.4 mm) affects the type of finish and may be constant or variable. Band saw blades are available in different lengths and width to fit the requirements of specific band saws.
