This MRC Marathon series CTW wide-slot take-up unit with a zinc-coated insert bearing, composite housing, and set screw lock, is designed for use with take-up frames to adjust belt tension in food and beverage conveyor systems. The one-piece housing is made of a gray thermoplastic composite material for resistance to food and beverage processing chemicals, such as cooking fats and citric acids. The double-sealed, single-row ball bearing insert in the housing is coated with MRC's proprietary zinc material (ZMaRC) for resistance to chemicals, water, and acids in heavy washdown applications. The bearing supports radial, thrust, and combined loads, and has a spherical outer surface that compensates for misalignments. American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) 304 stainless steel double-lip contact seals on both sides of the bearing help keep contaminants out and hold in United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)-approved food-grade grease applied at manufacture that lasts the lifetime of the bearing. For added protection, AISI 304 stainless steel flingers on the inner ring deflect contaminants away from the seals. The bearing locks onto the shaft with two set screws spaced 120 degrees apart for a three-point contact hold. This lock type minimizes ring distortion and vibration and is suitable for low- to moderate-speed applications where the shaft rotates in a single or reversing direction. A polyamide cage spaces the ball rollers for even load distribution and prevents contact to reduce friction, vibration, and noise. This take-up unit is suitable for use with take-up frames in conveyor systems operating in meat, poultry, fruit, beverage, and other food industries.
Mounted bearings combine a bearing mounted inside a housing unit. The bearing housing replaces the need for a casting or weldment to position the bearing securely for reliable operation, and its design determines the type of insert bearing. Insert bearings use rolling elements (ball, cylindrical, spherical, barrel, needle, spindled, or tapered) to maintain the separation between moving parts to reduce rotational friction, and to support radial and axial loads. Available in a variety of materials and mounting configurations, mounted bearings can be one- or two-piece, they can have an extended inner ring and locking device, and they can have seals and end caps that retain lubrication and protect the working parts of the bearing from environmental debris. Mounted bearings support shafts in a variety of mounting configurations (flange block, hanger, pillow block, and take-up block), and are used in a range of applications from light duty shaft guidance on conveyors to road building equipment and crushers.
MRC Bearing Services manufactures ball bearings for automotive, food and beverage, energy, aerospace, and other industrial and commercial applications. The company is headquartered in Jamestown, NY.
