The Kimble 26520-1 set of five borosilicate glass (Kimax) Erlenmeyer flasks includes one each of 50, 125, 250, 500 and 1,000mL sizes for mixing and storing chemicals or liquids. Heavy-walled borosilicate glass (Kimax) withstands temperature changes which can lead to cracking and is clear for visibility of contents. The flasks can be autoclaved and withstand temperatures up to 500 degrees C (932 degrees F) for a short period and up to 150 degrees C (302 degrees F) for continuous use. Printed graduations indicate the approximate volume and the smooth tooled neck facilitates cleaning and pouring. The flasks are designed to meet ASTM Specification E1404, Type I, Class 1 requirements.
The 50mL flask measures 78mm high with a 50mm base diameter, and accepts a size #1 stopper (not included.) The 125mL flask measures 108mm high with a 66mm base diameter, and accepts a size #5 stopper (not included.) The 250mL flask measures 130mm high with an 81mm base diameter, and accepts a size #6 stopper (not included.) The 500mL flask measures 174mm high with a 102mm base diameter, and accepts a size #7 stopper (not included.) The 1,000mL flask measures 213mm high with a 128mm base diameter, and accepts a size #9 stopper (not included).
Flasks are glass or plastic containers for storing or collecting chemical samples or solutions in scientific laboratories. They come in a variety of sizes and shapes and are designed for a wide range of scientific processes. Erlenmeyer flasks, introduced by German chemist Emil Erlenmeyer in 1861, are shaped like a cone with a wide, flat base that narrows to a neck opening, which can be closed with a stopper or cap.
Kimble Chase Life Science and Research Products manufactures scientific laboratory glassware under the Kimble Kimax brand. The company, founded in 2007, is headquartered in Vineland, NJ.
