Hub Diameter
The hub diameter is the distance from one tip of the shoulder (the hub) to the other. Gears can have hubs on one or both sides, or they can be hubless, which is called a flush hub. The hub can be used as an attachment point for the gear to the shaft through a keyway. They also contribute to the overall strength of the gear and the security of the fastening to the shaft.
