Purchase Delegation is AmazonSupply's purchase delegation solution and allows a customer to enable another person to place orders on their behalf.
Through Purchase Delegation, an account holder (the "Payer") can delegate buying authority to another person (the "Buyer"). When placing a delegated purchase order, the Buyer will use the Payer's existing payment methods and shipping options, and ship the order to an address in the Payer's address book.
To avoid confusing work-related purchases from your personal purchases, we recommend that both Payers and Buyers create a separate Amazon account dedicated to purchases involving a Purchase Delegation.
To invite and authorize Buyers to make purchases on your behalf, sign in to My Account and click on the link to "Use Purchase Delegation." Here, you can send an invitation to the individual that you've selected as Buyer. You'll be asked to create an Activation Key that will be necessary for the invitee to accept the invitation. If the invitee loses, or forgets the Activation Key, you'll need to provide it to the invitee or create a new invitation. After the invitation is accepted, the invitee will be added to your account as a Buyer. After you've invited Buyers to make delegated purchases, the "Use Purchase Delegation" link in My Account will change to "Manage Your Buyers."
Without an invitation and authorization, individuals aren't able to add themselves as Buyers to an account.
Once authorized, Buyers can place delegated purchase orders on your account at AmazonSupply.com or Amazon.com. Purchases will not be subject to an additional layer of approval by the Payer or a spending limit. Buyers aren't able to add new shipping addresses or payment methods to the Payer's account, but will be able to use all shipping addresses or payment methods on the Payer's account.
You can authorize up to 300 Buyers per Payer account.
Go to My Account and click "Manage Your Buyers." Follow the instructions to delete a Buyer.
Individuals are required to have an Amazon.com account in order to accept an invitation to act as a Buyer and can be designated as a Buyer for up to 30 Payers. To avoid confusing work-related purchases from your personal purchases, we recommend you create a separate Amazon account dedicated to purchases involving a Purchase Delegations before accepting an invitation to become a Buyer.
After you've added the items you want to purchase to your shopping cart, click the "checkout" button. You'll be presented with the list of accounts from which you can place an order for. This will include your personal account and the accounts of all of your Payers. Select the applicable Payer account and proceed with the checkout process.
Both the Buyer and the Payer will receive an order confirmation e-mail after the order is placed.
Buyers aren't able to add new shipping addresses or payment methods to the Payer's account.
Buyers have the ability to remove themselves as an authorized Buyer. To do so:
Once a Buyer removes a Payer, the Payer will need to invite and authorize the Buyer in order to restore future buying privileges.
Payers can review delegated purchase orders in My Account. Click View Orders in the My Account page. Payers will be directed to an order review page that includes delegated purchase orders. The order summary page (under View Orders -> "View Order Details") lists the Buyer for each order.
You can filter your orders by Buyer in My Account. You can also download an "Order History Report" to view your recent item order history. The report shows the buyer's name next to each order.
Buyers can filter orders by Payer in My Account.
The order summary page, found in the "View Order Details" of View Orders, lists both the Buyer and Payer for each order.
