Plastic industrial wall tubing is used for transferring liquids, air, or solids, and it is often machined and fabricated for specific applications. It is applied in a wide variety of industries, including agricultural, electrical, automotive, construction, and laboratory applications, and in the food and beverage industries. Applications include fluid handling, electrical and thermal insulation, and food and beverage handling among others.

Plastic industrial wall tubing is characterized by a round shape, a hollow center, and greater wall thickness (commonly 1/16” to 1”) than found in flex, thin wall, and hollow bar tubing. It also has a higher hardness rating, and it offers impact resistance and durability.

Plastic industrial wall tubing is made with materials such as acetal, polycarbonate, nylon-6, fiberglass, ultra high molecular weight (UHMW) polyethylene, and cast acrylic. These materials offer strength and rigidity to prevent abrasion, cracking, and shattering in fabrication by grinding, drilling, milling, and sawing, and they have various optical, weight, and insulating properties, as well as corrosion, heat, electrical, ultraviolet (UV), gamma, and environmental resistances. Fiberglass plastic tubing, for example, is commonly used in applications that are transparent to electromagnetic or radio frequency interference (EMI/RFI), and in light structural applications. Nylon can also be used in pressure tubing. Some material types can be manufactured to conform to medical, food-grade, or various government standards for specific uses. Plastic tubing must be tested and monitored by the purchaser to help ensure that it is safe and appropriate for its intended application.
