Material Types
-
Alloy steel is steel that has been alloyed with
other materials to improve overall physical properties, such as strength,
hardness, toughness, and wear resistance.
-
Fabric describes a wide variety of natural and
artificial fibers that are woven, knit, or felted. Fabric can be used for
filtering, nets, and geotextiles, among many other applications.
-
Galvanized steel is made of steel that’s been coated with a
thin layer of zinc. This protects the underlying steel from corrosion and makes
it rust resistant.
- Nylon is very strong and flexible, has
excellent abrasion resistance, is lightweight, and resists crushing and
cracking.
- Polyester shrinks at a very low temperature
compared to other shrinkable plastics and forms an excellent mechanical barrier
that can be used at both high and low temperatures. It is moisture and vapor
resistant, and unaffected by oils, greases, and volatile aromatics.
-
Steel is a good general purpose material. Steel
has better weldability and increased rust resistance over wrought iron.
