Manufacturer Grade

The manufacturer grade represents a combination of the substrate, coating, and finishing process of milling inserts, which determines the balance of shock and wear resistance the insert offers when machining specific materials in a range of operating conditions. For example, the GC1030 grade is a carbide insert coated with titanium aluminum nitride (TiAlN) and titanium nitride (TiN) with the physical vapor deposition (PVD) process. This manufacturer grade provides a balance of toughness and wear resistance for deep shoulder and end milling on a broad range of materials in difficult to average conditions. Manufacturer grade and coating combinations are often proprietary compositions designated by the manufacturer.
