Manufacturer Grade

The manufacturer grade of indexable turning inserts refers to the pairing of the substrate and finish. The grade determines how effectively the insert can machine specific materials in a range of operating conditions. GC1105 grade, for example, is a titanium aluminum nitride (TiAlN) coating over specific type of carbide. Grades are often proprietary compositions determined by a particular manufacturer.
