The Hanna Instruments HI 7609829-4 EC/turbidity sensor module with O-ring extends the testing capabilities of the HI 9829 or HI 98290 GPS multiparameter meter and a compatible probe in environmental monitoring of lakes, rivers, seas, and urban waters. After the sensor has been attached to the probe, it is automatically recognized by the meter. The meter can display both the electrical conductivity (EC) and turbidity parameters at the same time. The sensor houses a four-electrode conductivity sensor and a turbidity sensor in a single sensor body. The turbidity sensor uses an optical technique to measure suspended particles in water. The sensor provides measurements from 0.0 to 1000 formazin nephelometric units (FNU). The sensor is field replaceable and easy to attach, with color-coded screw-type connectors. HI 7609829-4 sensor measurements are International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 7027 compliant.
| EC/turbidity range | 0 to 200.0mS/cm 0.0 to 400mS/cm (absolute) 0.0 to 1000 FNU |
| Temperature range | 0 to 40 degrees C/32 to 104 degrees F |
| Depth rating | 20m/65ft. |
| Dimensions | 118 x 15mm/4.6 x 0.6 inches (H x W) |
H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right.
A multiparameter meter is a benchtop or handheld device that can take multiple readings on a single sample. It measures parameters such as the pH level (acidity or alkalinity of a substance), conductivity (the amount of salts or other compounds present in water), dissolved oxygen (DO, the amount of oxygen in a liquid), temperature, total dissolved solids (TDS, anything present in water other than the pure water molecule and suspended solids), salinity, resistivity, and oxidation reduction potential (ORP). Applications for multiparameter meters include water testing, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, winemaking, water-treatment plants, and aquaculture. Devices with a benchtop body are often used for indoor laboratory use or in a manufacturing setting; handheld, portable devices are typically used for fieldwork. Sensors are used with a meter to measure the parameters of a substance.
Hanna Instruments manufactures analytical instrumentation and supplies, including pH meters, electrodes, chemical reagents, and buffer solutions. The company, founded in 1978 and headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 9001.
