The Hanna Instruments HI 98186-01 is a portable microprocessor-based dissolved oxygen and temperature meter to help achieve accurate results in the lab and in the field.
The meter includes an internal barometer and thermometer, and can calculate biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), Oxygen Uptake Rate (OUR), and Specific Oxygen Uptake Rate (SOUR). The meter offers automatic or manual calibration, with values provided in milligrams per liter or percent saturation. Temperature calibration can be set at one or two points by the user, and a “calibration time out” function prompts the user when a new calibration is necessary. A large, graphic-based LCD screen also makes calibration and meter readings easy to perform. The HI 98186-01 can log up to 400 samples, and is equipped with a USB cable for easy download of data to Windows.
The meter has a DO range of 0.00 to 50.00 ppm or 0.0 to 600.0 % saturation (accuracy 0 to 300%: + or - 1.5% of reading or + or - 1.0%, whichever is greater; 300 to 600%: + or - 3% of reading; 0 to 30 mg/L: + or - 1.5% of reading or 0.10 mg/L, whichever is greater; 30 mg/L to 50 mg/L: + or - 3% of reading) with a resolution of 0.01 ppm/0.1% saturation. Barometric range is 450 to 850 mmHg (+ or - 3 mmHg within + or - 15 degrees C from the calibration point resolution) and a resolution of 1 mm Hg. Temperature range is -20.0 to 120.0 degrees C with automatic temperature compensation between 0.0 and 50.0 degrees C.
Dissolved oxygen meters are used in a variety of applications to monitor the amount of oxygen present in water. Applications include sewage and water treatment plants, pollution control, fish farms, and various types of manufacturing.
Hanna Instruments manufactures a wide variety of analytical instrumentation, including pH meters, electrodes, chemical reagents and buffer solutions. Founded in 1978, Hanna is headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, with subsidiaries in 32 countries. Hanna Instruments holds many firsts in the field of analytical instrumentation, including a pH electrode with a built-in temperature sensor, an electronic pocket-sized pH tester, and a replaceable electrode pH pocket tester. To ensure the quality of its products, Hanna is a vertically integrated manufacturer and does not subcontract any part of its manufacturing.
