The HI 84100 is a microprocessor-based titration system for measuring total or free sulfur dioxide in wines. In the wine making process, sulfur dioxide is added to the wine to inhibit bacteria and yeast, as well as to protect the wine color. The HI 84100 titrator system analizes the free and total sulfur dioxide to ensure proper levels during wine making.
The titration system includes an HI 3148B/50 glass body oxidation reduction potential (ORP) probe with BNC connector 50 cm (1.6’) cable, a micro-processor based titrator with a peristaltic pump for ensuring high dosing repeatability, and accessories for performing titrations. The titrator uses an algorithm to analyze the shape of the electrode response to determine when the titration reaction is complete. As the results are displayed in ppm units on the LCD, the titrator prepares itself for the next titration.
Range is 0 to 400 ppm of sulfur dioxide, + or – 5% of reading or 1 ppm, with resolution 1 ppm. Pump dosing is 0.5 mL/min and the sample volume must be 50 mL. The titrator uses a ripper titrimetric method, and an equivelance point redox tritation principle. Power source is 115V/230 VAC, 50-60 Hz; 10VA, and the device operates from 0 to 50 degrees C (32 to 122 degrees F). Dimensions are 208 x 214 x 163 mm (8.2 x 8.4 x 6.4”) (with beaker), and weight is 2200 g (77.6 oz.).
Hanna Instruments manufactures a wide variety of analytical instrumentation, including pH meters, multi-parameter meters, electrodes, chemical reagents, and buffer solutions. Founded in 1978, Hanna is headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, with subsidiaries in 32 countries. Hanna Instruments holds many firsts in the field of analytical instrumentation, including a pH electrode with a built-in temperature sensor, an electronic pocket-sized pH tester, and a replaceable electrode pH pocket tester. To ensure the quality of its products, Hanna is a vertically integrated manufacturer and does not subcontract any part of its manufacturing.
