The HI 2300N is a microprocessor-based conductivity (EC), Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), sodium chloride (NaCl), and temperature bench meter suitable for lab use. A temperature sensor inside the EC probe enables manual or Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC) for EC measurements. It is also possible to disable temperature compensation and measure actual EC. The meter features EC and TDS auto-ranging, which automatically sets the instrument to the scale with the highest possible resolution, and temperature coefficient on the EC range is user selectable. The instrument can store 500 manually logged points, and has a USB connection for PC interface. A Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) function provides data consistency.
EC range is 0.00 to 29.99; 30.0 to 299.9; 300 to 2999 µS/cm and 3.00 to 29.99; 30.0 to 200.0 mS/cm up to 500.0 mS/cm actual EC + or – 1% of reading at 20 degrees C, with a resolution of 0.01; 0.1; 1 µS/cm and 0.01; 0.1 mS/cm. TDS range is 0.00 to 14.99; 15.0 to 149.9; 150 to 1499 ppm and 1.50 to 14.99; 15.0 to 100.0 g/l up to 400.0 g/l actual TDS + or – 1% of reading at 20 degrees C, with a resolution of 0.01; 0.1. 1 ppm and 0.01; 0.1 g/l. NaCl range is 0.0 to 400.0% + or – 1% of reading, with a resolution of 0.1% NaCl. Temperature range is -20.0 to 120.0 degrees C + or – 0.4 degrees C (excluding probe error) at 20 degrees C, with a resolution of 0.1 degrees C. The device operates on a 12 VDC adapter. Dimensions are 235 x 222 x 109 mm/9.2” x 8.7” x 4.3’’ (H x W x D), and weighs 1.3 kg (2.9 lbs.).
Multiparameter meters are used to make a number of measurements, ranging from conductivity to TDS, and are used by researchers, manufacturers, and individuals for many different purposes. Conductivity meters, for example, measure the electrical conductivity in a solution. They are commonly used in hydroponics, aquaculture, and freshwater systems to monitor the amount of nutrients, salts, or impurities in the water.
Hanna Instruments manufactures analytical instrumentation and supplies, including pH meters, electrodes, chemical reagents, and buffer solutions. The company, founded in 1978 and headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 standards.
