The Bel-Art 500000003 Scienceware fume hood has a large (30 x 20 x 42 inches [H x W x D]) body, with a molded, one-piece, polyethylene hood that slides up and down on inside tracks, and has a choice of open, closed, or intermediate door positions. A fume hood is a ventilation device used by researchers, educators, and culinary professionals to extract or filter gases, vapors, fumes or dust from an area to facilitate a safe working environment.
The fume hood door opening measures 14.2 x 34.5 inches/36 x 88 cm (H x W), and has a 6-inch (15 cm) outer diameter (OD) exhaust stack. A molded, one-piece, outer polyethylene shell provides durability and chemical-resistance. A clear acrylic door provides visibility. When the door is in a closed position, the sash remains slightly open to facilitate continuous air flow. Curved interior corners allow for air flow circulation, and cleaning ease. The unit works with an exhaust system (required, and not included) that draws free air at 350 cubic feet per minute (CFM). The 500000003 fume hood weighs 25.5 kg (56 lb.).
A fume hood is a ventilation device used by researchers, educators, and culinary professionals to extract or filter gases, vapors, fumes, dust or other airborne contaminants from an area, or to contain the effect of a spill to facilitate a safe working environment in the science, chemistry and food and beverage industries. Fume hoods can be ducted or recirculating. A fume hood works with a fan to draw air outside of a facility, or to filter and feed it back into a facility. Air flow rate volume can be constant variable, and is measured in cubic feet per minute (CFM). Fume hoods can have no visual air flow rate indicator, or can have an analog or digital readout.
