The Amprobe Solar-500 solar power analyzer evaluates the energy output, efficiency, and placement of solar panels, helps determine the proper inverter size in solar power systems, and identifies malfunctioning cells on solar panels. It measures maximum power (Pmax), maximum voltage at maximum power (Vmaxp), maximum current at maximum power (Imaxp), voltage at open circuit, voltage present in system, current at short circuit, and percent efficiency to determine the actual power output of a solar panel in normal operating conditions. The operator can choose between an auto scan mode, for an overview of the power characteristics of a solar panel, or a manual scan mode, for focusing on a particular operating range or single test point for measurements. The operator can store readings in the meter's memory for future reference. An alarm sounds when power measurements drop below a user-adjustable preset threshold. A built-in calendar and clock track the timing of recorded events, such as power measurements. The meter's liquid crystal display (LCD) shows readings both in digits and as a curve on a graph. The meter comes with a set of test leads and two Kelvin clips for secure, hands-free connection to a conductor. The meter operates on eight rechargeable batteries (installed) and comes with a built-in battery charger with an external power adaptor. The meter's low-battery indicator signals when the batteries need to be charged. The meter has a USB port and comes with a data cable for connecting the meter to a computer. It also comes with software that provides a graphical user interface for transferring data from the meter to a computer running the Windows Vista, XP, or 2000 operating system. A tilt stand on the back of the meter allows it to be propped on a surface for hands-free operation. The unit comes with a nylon carrying case with shoulder strap to help protect against bumps and abrasions during transport and storage.

Industrial power meters measure electrical properties such as voltage, current, power, and energy to monitor the efficiency and performance of a power system. They are used for designing, installing, and maintaining industrial, commercial, and residential power supply systems. More advanced models have features for comparing and recording multiple measurements taken at different times and in different areas.
Amprobe manufactures electrical testing equipment for commercial, industrial, and home use. The company was founded in 1948 and is headquartered in Everett, WA.
