The Ample Scientific CM503 Nexcope compound, biological research microscope has binocular viewing heads, a widefield 10XD eyepiece with a field number (FN) of 20 mm, and objective magnification of 4XD, 10XD phase, 40XRD plan phase (sealed), and 100XRD (oil immersion method). This microscope, with its compound optical system, enhances object or image resolution, and is commonly used for biological research by professionals in medical, veterinary, and post-secondary institutions.
This microscope features Seidentopf binocular viewing heads which rotate 360degrees on two axes, with a wide inter-pupillary range. The microscope has brightfield illumination from below, allowing a specimen to absorb light for clear illumination, and darkfield illumination to enhance contrast. The carousel has phase contrast illumination to enhance the contrast of colorless and transparent objects. Long-lasting, dimmable LED illumination creates a more uniform output at any level, and a white light beam with cool temperature produces little to no heat, compared to traditional bulbs. It has an Abbe 1.25 Numerical Aperture (NA) sealed condenser with an aperture to control the diameter of light entering the specimen. A reversed nosepiece faces outward, protecting the objectives while providing clear access to the specimen stage. The microscope has a precision co-axial focus mechanism for viewing adjustment. It has a large graphite-coated, scratch-resistant, research-grade mechanical stage with room for two slides. An anti-mold head and all-metal gearing components provide durability. The unit works with a 110-volt power source for illumination. The microscope has a limited one-year warranty.

Microscopes are instruments used to enhance the resolution of an object or image. There are three types of microscopes: compound, stereo, or digital. Compound microscopes use a compound optical system with an objective lens and an eyepiece. Stereo microscopes show object depth in a three-dimensional image. Digital microscopes are used to display an image on a monitor, rather than looking through a lens. Microscopes can have monocular (one), binocular (two), or trinocular (three) eyepieces, with varying viewing abilities. A trinocular eyepiece is used to output digital images to an internal or external device such as a camera or monitor. Magnification ability refers to the size of an image. Resolution, also known as resolvant power, refers to the clarity of the image. The interaction between field of view (FOV), numerical aperture (NA), and working distance (WD) determines resolution. Microscopes can control magnification through a fixed focus, or through a range of adjustments. They can also use LED, fluorescent, and mirror light sources to help control viewing capabilities. Microscopes are widely used in education, lab research, biology, metallurgy, engineering, chemistry, manufacturing, and in the medical, forensic science, and veterinary industries.
Ample Scientific LLC manufactures laboratory equipment and supplies such as microscopes and centrifuges. Founded in 2009, and headquartered in Norcross, GA, Ample Scientific offers scientific equipment for research, educational, clinical and industrial applications.
