Product Description

The Adam Equipment PGL conventional, or precision, top loading balance offers a two-second settling time that allows for increased productivity. The balance can be operated using AC power or the built-in rechargeable battery, offering full mobility in the field and when a power supply is hard to find, for up to 20 hours. To conserve battery power, the auto off function can be enabled to power off the balance automatically after periods of inactivity. This balance has an automatic external calibration system that ensures repeatable measurements, and overload protection that prevents damage to the weighing cell and balance if too-heavy samples are mistakenly used. The integrated RS-232 port connects to a printer or PC for manual or automatic recording of weighing and calibration data.

The balance has a backlit digital display for readability, weighs in nine different units, and displays text in four languages: English, French, German, or Spanish. The application modes include parts counting, percent weighing, check weighing, and density determination. Security passcodes can be employed to safeguard against setting and mode alteration. The solid die-cast metal housing provides extra stability and is built to withstand tough field and lab environments. The stainless steel weighing pan resists corrosion and is easy to clean. Adjustable nonslip front and rear feet provide level measurements and stability, so the balance will not tip under eccentric loads. A built-in security slot for locks and cables protects the balance from unauthorized use or theft, and the included below-balance weighing hook suspends bulky items beneath the balance for weighing.

Balances are measuring instruments used to determine the mass of an object, while scales are used to measure the weight of an object. The measurement results from balances are generally considered to be more precise compared to results from scales. Mechanical balances are the simplest type of balance, and use a lever and slide to indicate the measurement. Conventional balances are commonly used in offices, the jewelry industry, and in kitchens, and display results digitally, but are less precise than analytical balances. Analytical balances measure to a high degree of precision and accuracy (0.0001 g or better), and display results digitally. These balances have a cover with doors to prevent dust and airflow from affecting the measurement. Moisture balances analyze moisture content in a material sample, using infrared or halogen heat sources to dry the sample and then calculate the moisture content from the before- and after-drying weight, and display results digitally, on the balance, or transfer the information for display on a computer.
