Product Description
The Accuform Signs StopOut gate valve lockout is a hollow circular shell that surrounds a gate valve handle and combines with a padlock (sold separately) to help protect against valve opening during maintenance and repair. To deploy, the lockout is opened then placed over a gate valve handle, with the center hole fitting over the gate valve stem, then the two halves are brought together and flanges from each half align to form a hole that accepts a padlock shackle. Three holes for padlocks (sold separately) provide the ability to require multiple authorizations for access to one locked-out device or energy source. The seam is protected by pry guard edges to help improve tamper resistance. It has a label that reads, "Danger - Locked Out – This device may only be removed by:" with lined areas that can be used to identify the persons responsible and expected completion date. The lockout is made of red plastic for high visibility, and can be modified for use over rising stem gate valves. This device is part of a lockout/tagout (LOTO) safety procedure required at facilities where energy sources need to be isolated during maintenance and repair.
