Plastic Heavy Wall Tubing

Plastic heavy wall tubing is used for transferring liquids, air, or solids, and is often applied in the industrial, automotive, electrical, laboratory, and food and beverage industries. Applications include fluid handling, UV transmission, and electrical and thermal… Learn More

Plastic heavy wall tubing is characterized by a round shape, a hollow center, and thicker walls than plastic thin wall tubing. It generally has low friction and minimal moisture absorption.

Plastic heavy wall tubing is made from fluoropolymer materials, such as fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), among others. These materials help prevent abrasion and stress cracks, and they are typically non-reactive to chemicals, solvents, and oils. These materials also offer various optical, insulating, and weight properties, as well as heat, electrical, ultraviolet (UV), and environmental resistances. Clear FEP, for example, is often applied for flow monitoring due to its optical clarity, while PTFE tubing is used for highly corrosive chemicals in laboratory environments. Some material types can be manufactured to conform to medical, food-grade, or various government standards for specific uses. Plastic tubing must be tested and monitored by the purchaser to help ensure that it is safe and appropriate for its intended application.
