3M™ Stikit™ Film Disc Roll 360L discs are constructed of premium aluminum oxide on a tear-resistant film backing that provides a consistent finish. These discs are excellent for fine sanding on plastics, gel coats, and polyurethane solid surface substrates. The discs conveniently attach to a low-profile Stikit disc pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander.
Sandpaper discs cut better and last longer when dust isn’t loading the cutting surface of the abrasives. An open coat means the abrasive grains have space between them so that sanding debris collects in the spaces rather than loading the cutting edge of the grains. The load resistant coating allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the disc and hinder sanding ability.
Aluminum oxide is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
The Stikit system eliminates the time-consuming task of applying adhesive to the disc backing. These high-quality, coated abrasive products come ready to use with a pressure sensitive adhesive coating on the backside so that attaching them to your disc pad is as simple as pressing on a sticker. And because the adhesive is pressure sensitive, the disc can be peeled off of the disc pad just as easily, leaving a clean surface for your next disc. A Stikit disc must be pressed onto a Stikit backup pad (also called a disc pad and sold separately) that is attached to a disc sander, random orbital sander, or stationary disc sander.
